Portland |

Even if smaller
than it used to be, at two days this is still the
biggest Polish Festival
on the west coast. This year the Festival
features two days of performances by the best Polish folk and
pop groups from the western United States, including Lajkonik
from Tuscon, AZ, a variety of merchandize and tons of pierogi & other Polish food as well as Polish beer. There are
also polka contests on both days and dancing on the Saturday
evening.

The Polish Film Club Kino OKO presents the movie Volhynia
/ Hartred
/ Wołyń, directed by Wojciech Smarzowski and starring
Michalina Łobacz and Arkadiusz Jakubik. This 2016 movie
depicts ethnic tensions resulting in violent WWII ethnic
cleansing and massacres of Poles by Ukrainians in Volhynia, a
province of Poland before WWII, now a part of Ukraine. The film
was a blockbuster in Poland and was praised by critics; it also
won several awards at the Polish FF in Gdynia.
Evening schedule: 7 pm socializing & film intro, 7:30 pm screening.

Polish Cultural Center |

The Polish
Cultural Center presents a culinary workshop in Polish on
kartacze. Kartacze is a potato-based country dish from the
Podlasie region in eastern Poland; the Polish cuisine also knows
a Lithuanian variety, called cepeliny. This is your opportunity
for networking with other ladies in Polish and also for winning
a tasty surprise in a raffle, so come in! Organized by Patrycja
Kurtycz and Teresa Vaisvila from the Polki na Eastside i w
Seattle group.

Polish Cultural Center |

The Polish
Cultural Center invites everybody to a rummage sale of small
furniture, home and holiday decor, vintage items, household
goods, clothes, books, children items etc. All profits to
benefit the 100th Anniversary of the Polish Home Association.
PHA asks all members and supporters to donate items to the sale.
The restaurant will be open on both days.
Donations
for the sale accepted on Fridays September 6 & 13, from 6 to 10 pm
at the Polish Home.

offers classes to individuals of all ages on Mondays as well as a
preschool group on Saturday. Children from grades 1-8 learn Polish language
&
literature, as well history and geography of
Poland; assignment is based on
proficiency level in Polish. Adults can learn Polish as beginners or at intermediate
& advanced levels. The first day of school is Sep 14 and 16,
2019.

The City of
Bellingham is adding Polish and five other languages to the Arch
of Healing and Reconciliation that recognizes the hospitality of
the members of the local Lummi and Nooksack tribes and honors
different immigrant communities of Bellingham and Whatcom
County. Polish community in Bellingham dates back to the
Solidarity immigration wave and its support by the local
parishes.

Dobry wieczór, Monsieur Chopin by Maria Nowotarska and starring
Maria Nowotarska and Agata Pilitowska. The play scenes from life

Polish Cultural
Center presents another Swing It Saturdays event. Come swing
dance to live music! Schedule: 7:30-8:15 Pre-dance beginner
lesson, 8:15-11:30 Live music with the Jonathan Doyle Quartet.
This event includes special swing performances
from the Swing It Seattle community. No partner or experience
needed - come join the fun! The bar will be open upstairs for

The Fr. Jan Twardowski Polish
School in Bellevue invites children from the Eastside as well as
Seattle. Subjects
include Polish language, geography, history and culture classes
offered to children from grades K (zerowka) to 8, based on proficiency in
Polish. The School also has a program of Polish as a second
language for children. All classes are on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. The first
day of school is Sep 11, 2019.
The registration is only
for the new students; new students have to be present for skill
assessment..
