Oct 18-20: Polish Scouts' National
Conference at the Polish Cultural Center |

The Polish
Scouting Organization - ZHP in the USA has its national
conference in Seattle this weekend hosted by the local Troop Kaszuby
and Scout Master Anna Borodenko. Over 130 attendees include
scouts and master scouts from all the American states with ZHP
presence, including leaders A. Janczuk, B. Pawlikowska & M.
Czabanski and guests from Canada and the UK. There is about
2,500 Polish scouts in the USA. The organization is
headquartered in Clark, NJ and consists of the Girls Division,
the Boys Division, Senior Scouts and Auxiliary Member
Association. The Seattle Scout Troop (hufiec) was founded by
Mrs. Martha Golubiec in 1986.

SPFF Special Who Will Write Our History at SIFF

Seattle Polish Film Festival invites everybody to a very special
presentation honoring Emanuel Ringelblum, a WWII hero who
managed to preserve the detailed history of the Warsaw Ghetto.
The evening features the documentary movie Who Will Write Our
History by Roberta Grossman based on the book of the same
title by Samuel Kassow. The film will be introduced by Dee
Simon, the Holocaust Center for Humanity in Seattle and
presented by Rabbi Callie Shulman, Temple De Hirsch Sinai; music
by Malke & The Boychiks and Klezmer with Verve!.

Seattle Public Libraries present Story Time in Polish Zielone
Czytanki for children 2-5 years old. The program for this
event includes: reading from children books Staram się kochać
pająki oraz Malutki pajączek, dancing to a song

This is a monthly event on every second Sunday of the month

The
parliamentary elections in Poland have been called for
October 13, 2019; voting in America is on October 12. Voting is in person
only (no voting by mail). In Seattle, you can vote at the polling station #221 at the Polish Cultural Center. Polish citizens residing in the
United States
have to
register for this elections to be able to vote. The registration deadline is
October 10 at 5 pm PST. The easiest way to register is through the
online registration
site.

Keepers! Workshop in

This is another
edition
of the very useful workshop. The Ethnic
Heritage Council and the UW Libraries
present A Free Workshop on Preserving the Cultural and Historical
Record of Our Community.
UW archivists/specialists will discuss such how-to topics as preserving
historical records, including photographs and papers, and
collecting oral histories.

Polityka by Patryk Vega. This 2019 movie is a

Choir Vivat Musica! is looking for new talent! If you are
interested in the Choir please come to the first practice of the
season with the new director, Mark Petty, on October 9, 2019.
You can talk to the Choir members and the director and listen to
see if you like it. The rehearsals are on Wednesday 7:30 to 9

The Polish
Scout (ZHP) Troop Kaszuby invites everybody interested in
scouting to the first meeting of the new season. Children from 4
to 18 years old can sign up in age groups: 4-7 (skrzaty), 7-11 (zuchy),
11+ (harcerze) and 15+ (wędrownicy). The scouts organize camps
and trips and provide an excellent way for children to immerse
in and learn Polish culture and traditions.

Garrick Ohlsson is the only American pianist to
ever win the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (in
1970). He returns to Meany Center with a program that includes
Brahms's Two Rhapsodies op.79, Fantasien op.116 &
Variation on a Theme of Paganini, Chopin's Nocturne in
B-flat Minor and Sonata #3 in B Minor.
