The Univ.of Washington Film Club
presents seven Polish animated short films including three
Oscar nominees and two Oscar winners for best animated short
film. Introduced by the Polish Fulbright scholar at the UW, Justyna Budzik. Dr. Budzik is a Professor at the Univ. of
Silesia in Katowice, Poland and an expert on Polish films.

Portland International Film Festival presents Spoor / Pokot, directed by
Agnieszka Holland. The movie is a mixture of a fairy tale and an
environmental thriller based on the novel by Olga Tokarczuk.
Agnieszka Holland is a renown director with three Oscar
nominations. The movie is
Poland's entry to this year's edition of the Oscars.

Keepers! Workshop in Seattle |

This is a return
of a very popular workshop. The Ethnic
Heritage Council and the UW Libraries
present A Free Workshop on Preserving the Cultural and Historical
Record of Our Community.
UW and MOHAI archivists/specialists will discuss such how-to topics as preserving
historical records, including photographs and papers, and to
collect oral histories.

The Polish Film
Club Kino OKO
presents a 2009 comedy-drama Strawberry Wine / Wino
truskawkowe,
directed by Dariusz Jabłoński. The film, overtly about a big city
cop landing at remote post in Polish Beskid Mountains, captures the
mood of the novel Tales of Galicia by Andrzej Stasiuk, on which
it is based. Introduced by Justyna Budzik, in English w/ Polish
subtitles.
Evening schedule: 7 pm socializing & film intro, 7:30 pm screening

The Vancouver
Chopin Society presents a piano concert by Janusz Olejniczak. Mr.
Olejniczak
is one of the best Polish pianists concerting all over the
world, he was the youngest award winner at the International
Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1970. The first part of
the concert will be played on a historical piano. A film about
Chopin, starring Mr. Olejniczak will be played at 4:15 pm before
the concert; a reception will follow the concert
Organized by the Vancouver Chopin Society.
A concert by Rafal Blechacz, the winner of the 2005 Chopin
Competition, is scheduled on April 22, 2018.
