The Vancouver
Chopin Society presents a piano concert by Rafal Blechacz. Mr.
Blechacz
is the winner of the 2005 International Chopin
Competition in Warsaw, where he dominated
by winning all five major awards. The program includes Mozart,
Beethove, Schumann and Chopin. A reception fwill follow the
concert.
Organized by the Vancouver Chopin Society (VCS). You can win a

The
Polish Cultural Center presents actor Stanisław Górka
in a program in Polish Droga with songs by Wojciech
Mlynarski & Jerzy Derfel. Mr. Górka is a movie, TV
and theatre actor, known from a very popular TV series about
life of a Polish parish called Plebania. His program on
the American tour is a monodrama with songs, with Jerzy Derfel
on piano. The restaurant will be open from 5 pm.

Polish Heritage Party.

on Polish immigration to Portland since 1880s at 2 pm and Agnieszka

The Polish Film
Club Kino OKO
presents the 1962 drama Passenger / Pasażerka,
directed by Andrzej Munk. Munk was one of the key creators of
the Polish school of cinema of 1950s and 1960s along with
Andrzej Wajda and Jerzy Kawalerowizc. In the movie, an
accidental meeting of two women, one German and one Polish,
opens a window on their shared past in the Auschwitz camp, the
past that the German hides from her husband.

Commemorating Katyn and Smolensk at the Polish Church |

The Polish Parish in Seattle invites everybody to the Holy Mass
commemorating the 78th anniversary of the
WWII Katyn massacre of Polish officers as well as the 8th
anniversary of the catastrophe in Smolensk where President
Kaczynski perished together with members of the Polish political
and military elite. After the mass, the flowers will be laid at
the Katyn monument with the Polish Scouts, guests and
parishioners present.

through a story of friendship between two disabled people, an

Group presents Pola Negri's film The Woman of the World
screened as part of the Leading Ladies Series of silent
movies running at the Paramount on all Mondays in April. Pola
Negri was a Polish born star of silent movie era; this 1925
drama comedy is one of her best films and a rare opportunity to
enjoy her performance. There will be an intro about Pola Negri
before the screening.

The Polish Cultural Center presents an exhibition Unwavering,
Accursed, Restored to Memory about a Polish resistance hero,
Danuta Siedzikówna (1928-1946). During WWII she was a nurse with
the Home Army,
and after the war ended she continued as a nurse in the
anti-communist underground. She wasm arrested and executed in
what is recognized as a judicial killing of the day. The
exhibition is organized by Krzysztof Poraj-Kuczewski.

presents Celebration of Mazurkas and Young Artist Concert -
a music and culinary event. In the program:
young artists of Polish origin will play music that includes
mazurkas by Chopin and Szymanowska. Polish mazurek cakes, an Easter tradition,
will be served with coffee, tea and fine Polish liqueurs; there
will be a contest for the best tasting mazurka pastry.
