If you crave the time you could visit the restaurant at the
Polish Home and chat at the bar over some drinks, this is an
event for you! The Polish Home Association will be hosting a
virtual Happy Hour on Zoom. Come to chat with old friends, make
drinks at home following instructions from Sala and have a great
time. Tickets are free on eventbrite, but this is also a PHA
fundraiser so a suggested donation of $15 would be greatly
appreciated.

meeting 24 hours before the event.

Presidential Election - By Mail Only,
Voting Deadline Now June 27 |

The Polish presidential election in America has been
rescheduled to June 27, 2020, 7 am to 9 pm. Voting in the
USA is by mail only. Seattle belongs to the polling station
#126 at the Polish Consulate General in Los Angeles.
If you are a Polish
citizen and you want to vote by mail, you need to register. The
registration deadline for this round has passed. This is the first round, with the second
round two weeks later if needed.
The results of
the first round
In the LA consular region (polling station #126):
Trzaskowski 1509, Duda 653, Hołownia 291 out of 2899 packets
returned and 2811 votes cast.
In the United States President Duda had 50,7% of the 26 126 votes
cast.
Registration for
the second round: if you didn't register for the first round
you can do it for the second one, the deadline is June 29.
People who registered for the first round don't have to
register again to receive their second round voting package by mail.

the Iron Curtain. These fairly recent movies cast an

festival Comedy vs. Communism: A Retrospective of Polish Cult
Comedies from Communist Times presents movies from 1970s and
1980s that were poking holes at absurdities of the communist
system and have become cult classics since then. Organized by
the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation and sponsored by
the Embassy of Poland in Washington, DC.

language for adults this summer. Both beginner and intermediate

Polish Book Club comes back to life after a two-year hiatus
under new management and in a new format. Paulina Phung has just
started the virtual edition of the club at the Polish Cultural
Center with meetings happening on Zoom. The book to discuss is
Zgubiona dusza by Olga Tokarczuk published by Wyd. Format in
2017. Polish Book Club meetings are in Polish.

lecture Warsaw - Heritage, Traditions and Urban Myths with a
(Very) Modern Twist by Justyna Zych. Dr. Zych is the 2020 UW
Polish Studies Fulbright Lecturer at the University of
Washington, currently teaching the course Warsaw: Window on
Contemporary Polish History and Culture.
Dr. Zych
is an Assistant Professor at the Polonicum Center of Polish
Language & Culture for Foreigners at the University of Warsaw.

The Ethnic
Heritage Council of the Pacific NW invites local ethnic
community leaders to a roundtable discussion on Preserving
and Teaching Heritage Languages.
This
discussion, continuing from a previous meeting, will focus on
the challenges and impact of the coronavirus pandemic on
language programs run locally. Local specialist and fellow
ethnic educators in attendance, a presentation and pointers to
additional resources for teaching and heritage promoting

Flavor of Poland is a culinary-travel PBS
television weekly series presenting the country of Poland to
American viewers like they've never seen it before. Hosted
by Aleksandra August, the series shows off not only
distinctly Polish dishes (check out the
sorrel &
crayfish soup recipe!) but also the most beautiful and
interesting aspects and landscapes of Poland. The series
premiere is
scheduled on KCTS on April 1, 2020 with a segment about gthe
old Polish capital of Cracow.
