June 22, 6:30 pm: Meet the Author with L. Chudzinski at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Cultural Center invites all poetry lovers to an evening with Leszek Chudzinski. Mr. Chudzinski is a Seattle-based poet who writes in Polish and English. His bilingual book of poetry Sunday Poets / Niedzielni poeci has been recently published in Cracow, Poland by the Miniatura publishers. After reading and Q&A the author will be signing his book.

June 21, from 7 pm: Movie In Heaven As It Is on Earth at the Polish Cultural Center

Polish Film Club Kino OKO presents In Heaven as it is on Earth / U Pana Boga za piecem directed by Jacek Bromski. This 1998 film is a heart-warming comedy about quiet Polish village in eastern Poland, where the most difficult problems are solved by a local priest. The film won several awards at the 1998 Polish FF in Gdynia, including best director, best screenplay, best supporting actor and sound.

Evening schedule: 7 pm socializing & film intro, 7:30 pm screening

June 18, 9:15 pm: M. Pietrzyk's Winning Documentary at SIFF Cinema Uptown

This is a special screening of the short film winners from this year's Seattle International Film Festival that includes Michal Pietrzyk's Grand Jury Prize winning film All on the Mardi Grass Day. The movie presents a secret 200-year culture of New Orleans African-Americans culminating in the Mardi Gras Day costume competition. The film already toured some of the best film festivals, including the Berlin FF and Tribeca.

June 9, 8:30 pm: Movie Another Day of Life about Kapuscinski at SIFF

The Seattle International Film Festival presents Another Day of Life / Jeszcze dzień życia directed by Raul de la Fuente and Damian Nenow. This 2018 animated feature film is based on the famous journalist & author Ryszard Kapusciński's book under the same title about his foray into the civil war in Angola in 1975.

June 8, 8 pm - 12 pm: Monthly Swing Dance at the Polish Cultural Center

Polish Cultural Center presents a new monthly event, Swing It Saturdays. Come swing dance to live music! Schedule: 7:30-8:15 Pre-dance beginner lesson, 8:15-11:30 Live music with the Julian MacDonough Swingset.  Event includes special swing performances from the Swing It Seattle community.  No partner or experience needed - come join the fun! The bar will be open upstairs for the event.

June 2, 3 pm: Children's Day with the Witty Scientist at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Scout Troop Kaszuby invites all families for an afternoon of fun to celebrate the Children's Day. Board games, hands on science experiments for all ages by Mariola Kulawiec the Wittly Scientist (bilingual). The program includes: big experiments for little hands, engineering constructions, art activities, math puzzles and more! Sponsored by Witty Scientists, LLC. The restaurant at the Polish Home is open as usual from 12 pm to 4 pm.
