The Northwest Film Forum presents the Local Sighting festival that includes
Lavender Braid by Magdalena Hill.
Ms. Hill, who wrote the script and directed this 30 min movie, is a local artist, performer, animator and video producer
based in Seattle. The film based on a Robert Kroetsch's short story unfolds in magical
realism style inspired by a mythological-like idea of a swarm of bees making love to a young
lavender gardener.

invites to a celebration of 33 years of the community with
special offering of the Relic of Saint John Paul II. Program includes
the Holy Mass at 11
am at Sacred Heart Church, followed at 12:15 by a reception in
the parish
hall with members of the community and the families hosting the
Relic. Also featuring a display about Poland, traditional Polish
music and dance.

This is an open meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of Poland, Witold Waszczykowski. Mr. Waszczykowski,
59, is a career diplomat. Among others, he served as a Deputy
Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2005-2008 and as the chief Polish
negotiator with the United States for the missile defense
system. He is also a graduate of the University of Oregon Dept.
of Political Science. The meeting is in Polish.

At two full days of attractions, it's the
biggest and the
most
colorful Polish
Festival in the
western
United States. Each year the Festival features
exhibitions, jazz or piano concerts plus the two full days of performances by the best Polish folk groups
from the west coast US and Canada,
variety of merchandize and tons of pierogi & other Polish food as well as Polish beer. There are
also polka contests on both days and dancing on the Saturday evening.

The Polish Film
Club KINO OKO presents the 2012 documentary
Santa Rosa. Odyssey in the Rhythm of Mariachi directed by
Sławomir Grünberg. The film relates a story of over 1400 Polish
refugees freed from the WWII Soviet camps, including hundreds of
orphans, who found a friendly home in Santa Rosa, Mexico from
1943 to 1946. Mr. Grünberg is a Polish-born American documentary
film maker; among among others, he directed Karski and the
Lords of Humanity.

& advanced levels.

The Polish Cultural Center Opens After Summer |

The Polish Home opens after a summer break
in the week after the Labor Day. In particular the restaurant
and the bar will be open on Friday nights starting from Sep 9,
2016. The Sunday lunches start in October.

School in Bellevue invites children from the Eastside as well as
Seattle. Subjects
include Polish language, geography, history and culture classes
offered to children from grades K (zerowka) to 8, based on proficiency in
Polish. The School also has a program of Polish as a second
language for children. All classes are on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. The first
day of school is Sep 14, 2014.
The registration is only
for the new students, new students have to be present for skill
assessment..

Jablonski Painting Exhibition in Kirkland |

The Parklane
Gallery in Kirkland presents two artists in August: Irena
Jablonski with Human Interest exhibition and Larey
McDaniel with Illusion of Color. Ms. Jablonski, a native
of Poland and a structural engineer for over a decade, started
on her artistic journey in mid-1990s.
The exhibition in Kirkland has about fifteen of her oil
paintings. Her favorite subjects are portraits from live models
and from photographs.
