Aug 21, noon to dusk: Polish Home Assn. Picnic at the
Lincoln Park |

This is the main
picnic of the summer for the Polish community of
Seattle; it is
organized by the Polish Home Association.
Come and share good food and fun! PHA will supply kielbasa,
hotdogs, bigos along with beverages and even ice cream for kids!
You can bring your a salad or dessert to share. Also, there will be
signing of songs for the Soldier's Day and friendly games and competitions with awards. Everybody is invited
to this great event!
Where: at the
Lincoln Park in Seattle, shelter #2 or watch for a Polish flag and the PHA
banner; admission free, bringing your food is optional, but a dessert to share
is welcomed.

The Parklane
Gallery in Kirkland presents two artists in August: Irena
Jablonski with Human Interest exhibition and Larey
McDaniel with Illusion of Color. Ms. Jablonski, a native
of Poland and a structural engineer for over a decade, started
on her artistic journey in mid-1990s.
The exhibition in Kirkland has about fifteen of her oil
paintings. Her favorite subjects are portraits from live models
and from photographs.

The Fountainhead
Gallery presents a group exhibition Transcendence: Here and
Now, Landscape Paintings from a Global Perspective that
includes six oil
paintings by Kazimierz Poznanski, from his big format abstract
realism series. Mr. Poznanski is a painter, poet, writer and a
Professor of Economics at the Univ. of Washington in Seattle,
with interest in Chinese art. The program: 4 - 5:15 pm Opening
reception, 5:30 - 6:15 pm an RSVP concert by O. Rusu Tomai
(piano) & M. Shmidt (violin), till 8 pm reception.

Uptown
presents the movie The Innocents / Les Innocentes directed by
Anne Fontaine and starring Agata Kulesza and Agata Buzek. This 2016
deeply moving drama takes place in 1945 Poland where a young
French Red Cross doctor comes to help Benedictine sisters after
their convent was
"liberated" by the Red Army. Ms. Fontaine's other films include
Coco Before Chanel.

for a summer break
in August and will reopen in September after the Labor Day
weekend.
