Nov 22, 11 am: Polish Book Club Meeting at  the Green Lake Library

The book for the meeting is Zajezdzimy kobyle historii. Wyznania poobijanego jezdzca by Karol Modzelewski, published by Iskry in 2013. Modzelewski, 77, a professor of medieval history and a senator in free Poland, was a dissident (of the Kuron and Modzelewski fame) and a Solidarity activist who spent years in communists prisons. The book that won the 2014 Nike Award is a fascinating personal and political memoir that spotlights the most important political events in Poland from 1956 to 2000 with incisive insights.
