Local
pianists Ivona Kaminska and Chris Bowlby will give solo
performances in the series Music from Afar. The program
includes the last sonatas of Beethoven, op. 110 & 111 as well as
Mozart's two fantasies in D minor and C minor.
Dr. Kaminska & Dr. Bowlby are founders of the Chopin Academy of
Music and the Seattle International Piano Festival.

The Northwest
Film Forum presents the movie Gabriel as one of the
features of the 2014 Children's Festival in Seattle. This 2013
film directed by Mikolaj Haremski tells a story of an orphan boy
Tom. He befriends a local auto mechanic and later ventures
on a journey across Poland with his mysterious friend Gabriel.
For ages 9+, in Polish with English subtitles.

The book for the meeting is Aleja Samobojcow by Marek
Krajewski & Dariusz Czubaj,
published by WAB. Mr. Krajewski had a very successful series of
books based on Wroclaw. The book is a contemporary crime novel
set in Gdansk in 2006.

This is the annual meeting of the members of the Polish Home
Association. It is also an election meeting for the Board of
Trustees and the PHA Officer positions. PHA members can vote by

Garrick Ohlsson is the only American pianist to
ever win the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (in
1970). He returns to Meany Hall with program that includes
Beethoven's Sonata in E Major, Schubert's Fantasy in C Major,
Griffes' Selections and Chopin's Sonata in B Minor.

Years of Polish Community in Bellingham |

The Polish Community at Bellingham started when several
Solidarity families from Poland were sponsored by The Sacred
Heart and other Whatcom County churches in 1983. The anniversary
celebration starts with a mass at 11 am and then there will be a
reception in the Parish Hall at 12:15 pm. The program also
includes: a display about Poland, traditional Polish music &
dance and even a visit from a Polish Santa Claus. Organized by
Mrs. Urszula Kubik.

This event is the traditional wafer & good-will sharing (Oplatek)
for members and friends of the Polish Home with Fr. Andrzej
Galant. This is an open event - everybody is welcome.
The Polish Choir
Vivat Musica will help with caroling and everybody
is invited to come and sing Polish and American carols along.
