Fabryka mucholapek by Andrzej Bart published by Wyd.
WAB in 2008. Fabryka ... mixes past and present in a
fictitious process of M. C. Rumkowski, the controversial head of
the Lodz ghetto.
Andrzej Bart, who lives in Lodz, is a novelist and screenwriter whose works
frequently have some unusual twists.
The book can be bought on the
Internet or borrowed from Club members. Club meetings are in
Polish.

Krystian
Zimerman is the most renown Polish
pianist. He won the famous International Chopin Competition
in Warsaw
when he was only 19 (in 1975) and gives relatively few recitals
every year traveling with his own piano. He returns to
Seattle
to play in the UW World Series at Meany Hall. As
is usual for Mr. Zimerman, the program will be announced later.

Oscar winner Anna Paquin plays
the famous Polish WWII hero in the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie
produced by CBS. Irena Sendler ran an organization that has
saved 2500 Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto. The movie
directed by John Kent Harrison also stars Marcia Harden, Danuta
Stenka and Maja Ostaszewska.

the concert Exploring the Polish Soul featuring two
Polish composers as well as a Polish conductor and soloist. The

Violin Concerto in A Minor by Mieczyslaw Karlowicz.

Kazimierz Poznanski is a
professor at the University of Washington,
a painter with exhibit in China and Canada and an art collector with interest in Chinese art &
culture. His exhibition
North End Lands at the Kobo Gallery in the International
District features about 15 paintings made with traditional Chinese
paint on a rice paper.

admission free. The exhibition is open from April 10 till May
16, 2009.

The Spring
Bazaar is an annual event organized by the Ladies Auxiliary. The
booths upstairs offer Polish crystal bowl and vases, amber and
silver jewelry, pottery, crafts, books, Easter eggs and much
more. Downstairs you can enjoy traditional Polish dishes served
by the young waiters clad in Polish folk costumes. You can also
buy home-made desserts and pastries. This is usually a crowded event, so come early.
The Bazaar
looks for volunteers to help set it up on Friday April 3, 2009
from 8 pm and on Saturday morning. If you would like to help,
