Salon of Poetry opens with Petrarca & Lipska at the Polish Home

Salon Poezji
(the Salon of Poetry
in Seattle)
is a new organization devoted to the art of word and its masters,
the poets. The opening evening Niezniszczalne oblicza milosci (Undestructible
Faces of Love) will feature sonnets by Francesco
Petrarca in Polish translation by Jalu Kurek and poems by Ewa
Lipska, a contemporary Polish poet living in
Cracow. Music by Franz Liszt and Ludwig van
Beethoven interpreted by the accomplished Russian pianist Jaan
Dementiev will accompany the recitations. The Salon has been
founded by Lena Wrozynski
of Seattle. The evening is organized by
Lena Wrozynski
and the Polish Home.
Jun 10, 8:30 pm: Polish tall
ships slideshow & lecture at the Polish Home
Thad Koza
If you were
hoping that the Dar Mlodziezy would
visit Seattle
& Tacoma
in June during Tall Ship 2005 event, this is the event for you! The
best next thing is a slide-show on Polish tall ships by Thad Koza.
Thad has sailed extensively on the Dar, Pogoria and Zawisza Czarny.He will talk about his experiences and about other great
ships such as Dar
Pomorza, Iskra, Fryderyk Chopin, Oceania,
and Kapitan.
Q&A will follow. There will be tall ship calendars and pictures to
buy as well. Organized by the Polish Home and Mr. Koza.
Thad will also
have lectures on international tall ships: on June 14 in
Seattle
and on June 15 in Tacoma.

PH Expansion Fund Committee meeting at the Polish Home
This is an open
meeting for everybody interested in the project. The goal is to
gather funds for expansion and remodeling of the Polish Home as
described in the published articles and a brochure distributed at
the Polish Home. The Committee needs help and welcomes all the
volunteers. The campaign so far resulted in $86,000 in pledges.

Movies at SIFF: Warsaw
at Harvard Exit
Warsaw
This year
Seattle International Film Festival shows two Polish feature
movies and a short. Warsaw
(Warszawa) is a drama directed by Dariusz Gajewski that was the
best movie of the 2003 Polish Film Festival in
Gdynia, Poland.
It won total of 5 Golden Lions there for the best movie, best
director, best screenplay, editing and supporting actress.

Tall ship photo exhibit at the UW in Seattle
and Tacoma
Thad Koza
Thad Koza is a
writer, photographer and researcher with great love of tall ships,
based in Newport,
RI. His most recent book is Tall
Ships: Fleet for the 21st Century. He
sailed all over the world on many of the great ships and the photo
exhibit is just one fruit of his passion. It features pictures of
the most magnificent tall ships from many countries.
