PKS (Pilkarski
Klub of Seattle) is an all-Polish
soccer team, currently playing in
Seattle's premier recreational league, GSSL
(www.gssl.org).
The team has practice on Wednesday evenings and games are on
Sundays. PKS looks for new players aged 17-40 with good skills for
the fall season starting Sep 11 and for the All Nations Cup next
year. Playing for PKS is a great opportunity to meet fellow Poles
and represent the Polish-American community here in
Seattle. The team is also looking for
sponsors!

great star of the opera, has been singing in this year’s
production of the Ring of Nibelungen at the Seattle Opera
receiving excellent and exuberant reviews.

Gazetka
Polonijna invite members
and friends of SPC and their families to the annual potluck
picnic. There will be games and fun for adults and kids. The park
boasts a nice children’s animal farm and many nature trails.

Saturday on prime time. The movie starring Piotr Adamczyk as Karol
Wojtyla covers his life from 1939 till the ascendance to papacy in
1979. The movie based on a book by Gian Franco Svidercoschi has
been directed by Giacomo Battiato and shot at locations in
Cracow,
Poland and at the
Vatican.

movie starring Piotr Adamczyk tells the story of the young Karol
Wojtyla starting from the German and Soviet invasion of
Poland
in September 1939. It covers his life as a young man surviving
atrocities of Nazi occupation in
Cracow
then as a young priest spreading the Good News and the bishop and
archbishop tending to his flock under the repressive communist
regime till ascendance to the papacy. The movie based on a book by

This is a yearly picnic for members and friends of the Polish Home
Association and their families. Come and share good food and fun!
There will be grills and tables
available as well as free drinks, hamburgers and hot dogs for kids
and teenagers. A casual volleyball game is a tradition at the PHA
picnics and some people always try to play soccer among the
bushes, so get your sport shoes ready! Everybody is invited.

Podles,
the brilliant Polish contralto, comes back to
Seattle
two years after her performance as
Adalgisa in Bellini’s
Norma
for which she won the 2003 Seattle Opera’s Artist of the Year
Award. This time she will take part in the coveted yearly NW
summer feast of Wagner’s Ring of the
Nibelungen. The cycle is
running three times in August, with Ewa
Podles singing as
Erda in
Rheingold and
Siegfried and as
First Norn in
Gotterdamerung.
