Nov 29, 7 pm: Polish Soc. Security for Poles in the USA at the Polish Cultural Center

Poland and the United States have an agreement about Social Security systems for their citizens; Poles living in the USA can receive Polish social security benefits. At this meeting, specialists from the Polish Social Security Administration (ZUS) will present information in Polish on when and how to apply for the benefits and application forms will be provided. Q&A session will follow the presentation.

Nov 29, 7 pm: Lecture on New Polish Cinema and Photography at the UW

Justyna Budzik

The UW Polish Studies Endowment Committee presents the lecture Gloomy or Glam: New Polish Cinema and Photography by Justyna Budzik. Dr. Budzik is an Assistant Prof. at the Univ. of Silesia Dept. of Film and Media Studies in Katowice, Poland, and the Fulbright scholar at the Polish Studies at the UW Slavic Department, with interest in cinema anthropology and archeology.

Nov 25, 7 pm to 1 am: Polish Festival Party w/ Yaazda at the Polish Cultural Center

This is a big party starring the Portland band Yaazda that is also a fundraiser. The event includes Polish music from 80s and 90s played by Yaazda and DJ Filip and a dinner. All profits from ticket sales, raffles, and bar will benefit the Annual Polish Festival Seattle and the 100th anniversary of the PHA.

Nov 17 - Nov 30: Movie Loving Vincent at Cinemas in Seattle and Tacoma

This ground breaking feature-length painted animation movie is a bio of Vincent van Gogh, the famous impressionist painter, covering his entire life and his famous paintings. The film has been co-created by Polish painter Dorota Kobiela and filmmaker Hugh Welchman who won an Oscar for Peter and the Wolf  in 2008.

Nov 19, 12 - 5 pm: Celebrating 25 Years of the Polish Parish in Seattle at St. Margaret Church

St. Margaret of Scotland

The Polish Parish of St. Margaret of Scotland in Seattle cordially invites everybody to the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Parish. The event starts with a Holy Mass at noon; a play about the life of St. Margaret will start at 1:30 pm, followed by a banquet. An additional attraction is an exhibition about the Parish history. Congratulations!

Nov 17, 7 pm: Movie All That I Love by J. Borcuch at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Film Club Kino OKO presents the movie All That I Love / Wszystko co kocham directed by Jacek Borcuch. Set in the early 1980s Poland, the film tells a story of young punk musician Jacek whose rebellious songs run against censorship amid a turmoil of the Solidarity times, with Jacek and his love Basia caught between their parents on the different sides of the politically divided society. The film was shown at the 2010 Sundance FF and Poland's entry to 2011 Oscars. Introduced by Dr. Justyna Budzik.

Evening schedule: 7 pm socializing & film intro, 7:30 pm screening

Nov 12, 2:30 pm: Poland’s Independence Day at the Polish Cultural Center

The Polish Home Assn presents an Independence Day celebration that includes a patriotic poetic program in Polish prepared by Barbara Strutynski and a performance by the Polish Choir. The restaurant will be open from 1 pm as usual. Update: the event picture gallery

 

Where: the mass at St. Margaret's Church in Seattle at noon, the celebration at the Polish Cultural Center Dom Polski at 2:30 pm, admission free, the main program is in Polish.

Nov 11, 4 pm - 9 pm: SPF Volunteer Appreciation Party at the Polish Cultural Center

& Pierogi Fest

The Seattle Polish Foundation cordially invites all the volunteers and their significant others to a volunteer appreciation party. Everybody who contributed their time, treasure or talent to Polish Festival Seattle or Pierogi Fest is invited to join in the celebration. The event includes: free delicious Polish dinner, toasts, special performance by New Age Flamenco and evening of conversation, music and dance. Please come to hear the praise, and to eat, drink and be merry!

Nov 10, 7:30 pm: Young Artists For Teachers' Conference in Portland

The Polish Hall in Portland presents the concert Young Artists of Polish Roots that is a fundraiser for the 15th Polish Teachers and Parent Council Members Conference to be held in Portland in May 2018. The program features performances by Aniela Erbe, Adrian Cisowski, Matthew Kaminski, Timothy Shortell and Sebastian Stenfert-Kroese, with music by Chopin, Saint-Saens, Debussy, Yurima and Vivaldi.

Nov 4-5, noon - 6 pm: Fall Bazaar at the Polish Cultural Center

The annual fall bazaar features delicious Polish dinners served all day as well as booths with amber and silver jewelry, crafts, Polish books and CDs, Boleslawiec pottery, Polish crystals as well as booths by local Polish organizations. Polish Choir Vivat Musica will perform on Sat at 2:30 pm. You can buy Christmas ornaments and wafers (oplatki) andhomemade cakes. Also available frozen pierogi and dinners to go.
