The Polish Home Library invites parents with children ages 6-9
to a Storybook Reading in Polish or Poczytajki.
Please come to join in exciting stories and fun activities. This
meeting is the first
from a planned
monthly series for both children and the adults who speak or
study Polish.

the Kirkland Library |

The book for the meeting is Osci by Ignacy Karpowicz,
published by Wydawnictwo Literackie in 2013. Karpowicz,
38, is a novelist and a translator.
his three previous books were nominated to top Polish literary
awards, and the last one one the Polityka Paszport in 2013.

This is the annual meeting of the members of the Polish Home
Association. It is also an election meeting for the Board of
Trustees and the PHA Officer positions. PHA members can vote by
proxy, see the Polish Home website for candidate lists, proxy forms and other election
info.

Poland, May 5-18 at the Polish Cultural Center |
The Old Town Square

This is an open
meeting for people who are interested in the tour to Poland in
May 2015 organized by our own Seattle-Gdynia Sister City
Association. The presentation will include details of the trip
and screening of a short film. Major tourist cities and
attractions are on the itinerary, including Gdansk/Gdynia,
Warsaw, Poznan, Wroclaw and Cracow. Previous trips of this kind
were highly praised, so this is an opportunity not to be missed!

The children dance group Young Polanie and
the theatre group Biedronka at the Polish Cultural Center
look for girls and boys from the age of 6 up. If you like Polish folk dances & songs or
theatrical performances, bring your kid to join the group.
Speaking Polish is not required to join. The groups performed for both American and Polish audiences and at
ethnic festivals in the Pacific Northwest.

Come to Sebi's
to meet the WWII hero Cpt. Alex Herbst in person
and to see the latest trailer of a documentary movie Spitfire
Liberator: The Alex Herbst Story. Mr. Herbst was a fighter
pilot flying Spitfires with the famous Polish RAF squadrons 303
& 308 in missions over Great Britain and Europe. The
documentary is being finalized and producers hope to release the
movie in Seattle in March 2015.

Texas born Adam Golka is a
second generation Polish-American who won a slew of
international awards for his brilliant technique, including 2008
Gilmore Young Artist Award and 2009 Classical Fellowship Award.
He debuted at the Carnegie Hall in 2010. Mr. Golka will play Mozart's
piano concerto in C major. Also in the program Adam Walker in
flute concerto in G major and Valeriy Sokolov in violin concerto
in A major.

Plays a Mozart

The young Polish-Canadian star
comes to Seattle again, this time to the main venue at the
Benaroya Hall; his debut in Seattle was in 2012 at the Meany
Hall just before he turned 17. At Benaroya, Mr. Lisiecki, still
a teenager, will play Mozart's piano concerto in D minor. Also
in the program Valeriy Sokolov in violin concerto in D major and
Boris Allakhverdyan in clarinet concerto in A major.

This is a traditional wafer & good-will sharing (Oplatek)
for members and friends of the Polish Home with Fr. Andrzej
Galant. This is an open event - everybody is welcome
to come and sing Polish and American carols along.
The program includes a short performance Christmas Eve at
Boryna's, based on the Nobel Prize winning novel The
Peasants by W. Reymont.
The Polish Choir
Vivat Musica will help with caroling. Everybody's invited!.

The Polish Cultural
Center restaurant will be closed for Christmas from December 21
till January 2. It will reopen for business as usual on Jan 9,
