Enjoy a
remarkable afternoon of duo piano music with Iwona Kaminska and
Christopher Bowlby. The concert program includes four-hand
sonatas and works by Mozart, Schubert, and others, as well as
Stravinsky's monumental "Rite of Spring" as the centennial of
the work's premier in Paris approaches.
Dr. Kaminska & Dr. Bowlby are founders of the Chopin Academy of
Music and the Seattle International Piano Festival. All proceeds
from this concert benefit the Seattle International Piano
Festival.

Challenges of Face Transplantation by Maria Siemionow.
Dr. Siemionow is Poland educated, world renowned micro surgeon
famous for performing the first face transplant in the
United States in 2008. She is the head of the Plastic Surgery
Section at the Cleveland Clinic (Ohio) and a Professor of
Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

Dancers (ALD). ALD is a
modern dance group founded by Ms. Laska who serves as the
choreographer and director. The program includes: a sit-down
dinner, a chamber music performance, an ALD video clip
retrospective, group CDs and DVDs and a silent auction & the

The book for the meeting is Noc zywych Zydow by Igor
Ostachowicz,
published by Wyd. WAB in 2012. Noc, connected by the
critics to Night of the Living Dead and Quentin
Tarantino's movies, is a novel brilliantly using irony and
comedy describing the hero's dealing with Jewish ghosts showing
up in contemporary Warsaw. Ostachowicz is an advisor to the
Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, and has also a classic
horror novel to his name. Club
meetings are in Polish.

Zionist Youth And the Politics of Belonging in 1930s Poland by
Dan Heller.
Dr. Heller is a Hazel D. Cole Fellow in Jewish Studies at the
University of Washington with interest in Jewish organizations
in 1930s Poland. Betar for example was an organization observing
Polish patriotic ceremonies and training with rifles supplied by
the Polish Army.

and Roman Maciejewski performed by Pacific NW pianists Colleen
M. Adent, Anne D. Young and Christopher Schindler. Also, Polish mazurka cakes, an Easter tradition,

Salon of Poetry
in Seattle presents a
poetry of Julian Tuwim (1894-1953). Tuwim dla doroslych i dla
dzieci includes reading from his most beloved classics of
children literature as well as a choice of other poems.
Introduction by Mr. Leszek Chudzinski, a local poet
writing in Polish and English. Poems are read by a cast of
children and teenagers from The Ladybug Theatre from the
Polish Home and members of the Salon.

SIFF Cinema presents an award-winning documentary Tony &
Janina's American Wedding: A Deportation Love Story directed
by Ruth Leitman. The movie follows a Polish-American family
from the Chicago area. Wife Janina is deported after 18 years in the
USA and her husband Tony ultimately loses his beloved and his 6
year old son who goes away with the mother even though he is an
American by birth.
The movie will be followed by a panel discussion with local
families in a similar situation and civil rights attorneys.
