New Year's Eve party

Dec 31, 7:30 pm - 2 am: New Year’s Eve party at the Polish Home

It’s a repetition of a very successful formula introduced at the last New Year’s Eve party. Namely, you can choose between a traditional band upstairs and a DJ downstairs. Ticket price includes a full course Polish dinner, champagne, hats and fifes.

     Upstairs:     music by Polonus: Philip, Ola & Marcin

     Downstairs: music by DJ Marcin Ludowicz - disco music

The doors & the bar open from 7:30 pm, sit-down dinner at 8 pm, dancing from 9 pm.

 

Where: at the upper and lower halls of the Polish Home; tickets $75 per person (members) & $100 (non-members).

More: reservations: upstairs - Lucyna Blonska (206) 764-7057, downstairs - Anna & Bart Pawluskiewicz (206) 821-6202. Reservations need to be paid for by Dec 24, otherwise become void. No tickets will be sold at the door! Please note that this is not a BYOB and you cannot bring your own alcohol to the party

Dec 25 & 27: Polish Home closed for Christmas

The Polish Home is closed for Christmas on December 25 & 27, 2009, as well as on January 1st 2010. The Polish Home will be open, but the restaurant will be closed on Jan 3, 2009.

Dec 18, 8 pm: Christmas traditions & carols at the Polish Home - cancelled

This event has been cancelled.

Everybody is invited to an evening devoted to the joy of Christmas traditions and caroling.

Dec 12, 6 pm: St. Nicolas party & Christmas traditions in Redmond

The Polish School in Bellevue invites for an evening of Polish Christmas traditions and singing Polish carols. The traditional program includes a short performance by the children of the School,  St. Nicholas visit, sharing of Christmas wafers and sweat treats. Every child is welcomed!

Dec 10, 7 pm: Ideology and the Tragedy of East Central Europe at the UW

Daniel Chirot

UW Jackson School of International Studies in association with UW Polish Studies Endowment Committee invites to a lecture Ideology and the Tragedy of East Central Europe in the 20th Century by Prof. Daniel Chirot. Dr. Chirot is a professor at the Dept. of Sociology at the UW Jackson School.

Dec 6, 2:30 pm: St. Nicolas party at the Polish Home

This is a Mikolajki party for kids organized by the Polish Home. There will be a friendly competition for all children to perform a song or say a little poem for awards. The program includes a video from the 2004 performance by the PH Mlodzi Polanie children group based on Ch. Andersen’s classic The Little Match Girl. A Santa Claus visit will be a highlight of the event. The restaurant will be open from 1 pm.

Dec 3, 7 pm: Freedom on the Fence lecture & screening at the UW

Andrea Marks

Freedom on the Fence is a 40 min. documentary about the history of Polish posters and their significance to the social, political and cultural life of Poland. This unique form of art flourished under the communist regime and is still going strong in the years after the fall of communism. The project will be presented by the producer & director, Prof. Andrea Marks of Oregon State U.

Nov 30 - Jan 15: A Polish poster exhibition at the UW

The Polish Poster: a Visual Metaphor is a poster exhibition featuring some of the most interesting examples of the Polish poster art. The 50 posters at the exhibit come from the local NW collections. Organized by Krzysztof & Ewa Poraj-Kuczewski, sponsored by the UW Polish Studies Endowment Committee and the Polish Home Foundation.

 

Where: at the UW Allen Library North on the University of Washington campus in Seattle; admission free, open during the Library hours
