Polish Festival at the Seattle Center

Dear Friends

The Polish community received an approval to organize Polish Festival at the Seattle Center (Intiman Theatre) on September 30, 2012.  For the Polish community in Seattle this is an unprecedented opportunity to have a Polish festival of this scale and visibility. The  Seattle Center is the most popular place for cultural festivals and similar events in Seattle and getting an approval wasn’t easy. We want to stage the best Festival we can. If we are successful, Polish Festival can be invited to a regular annual spot on the Center’s agenda as part of Festal.  The Festival there would put Polish community among the ranks of other communities that hold their annual celebrations at the Seattle Center.  The Festival is even more important as it complements the Next50celebration, the jubilee year of 50th anniversary of Seattle Center. 

The aim of the Polish Festival at Seattle Center is to present Polish culture and traditions to larger audiences and to the wide general public of the City of Seattle.  Expected number of visitors is estimated between two to five thousand and more. Festivals at the Seattle Center are covered by the local newspapers  as well as the local television and radio, and we expect this to be the case with the Polish Festival. Hence, we expect to reach with the Polish cultural offerings to a much wider American audience than ever before.  

The main organizer of the Festival is Polish Home Foundation of Seattle, with Seattle-Gdynia Sister City Association and the Seattle Center as co-organizers.  In addition, the Foundation has traditionally partnered with Polish Home Ladies Auxiliary and Polish Home Assn.  The organizing committee has been active for some time now, and there is a proposed program for the Festival etc. However, in order to make this the best event ever, we believe that all the Polish organizations in the Pacific Northwest should be part of it. Let’s work together on making this a fantastic festival.   

To make it a truly community-wide effort we invite representatives from all Polish organizations and volunteers from the community to the Polish Festival organizing committee. Please join at one of the committee meetings on Wednesday nights at the Polish Cultural Center / Polish Home in Seattle:

     7 - 9 pm on June 19 & 27

     7 - 9 pm on July  11 & 25
