June 22: Poland vs. Romania in 3rd place game at the  All Nations Cup in Tukwila

What a ride! Local Team Poland exceeded all expectations in the All Nations Cup this year. After two rounds of qualifiers, a quarterfinal and the semifinal with the black horse Bosnia, the team is fighting for the 3rd place. This is unprecedented success of the Polish soccer club of Seattle (PKS)!  Come to cheer at their final game on Sunday:

    Sunday,  June 22, 7:30 pm: 1st place game: Brazil vs. Bosnia

June 21, 10 am: Polish Book Club meeting at the Green Lake Library

The book for the meeting is Dolina radosci by Stefan Chwin published by Wyd. Tytul in 2006. This book describes adventures of a makeup artist Eryk Stamelmann before, during and after WWII. Stefan Chwin is a literary critic, essayist, novelist and illustrator based in Gdansk, Poland. It can be bought on the Internet or borrowed from Club members. Club meetings are in Polish.

June 19-21, 7:30 pm: Agnieszka Laska Dancers at Taste of Portland Dance

Agnieszka Laska Dancers and Dancing People Company invite to a joint performance The terror that is named the flight of time, choreographed to the music of Shostakovich and Svoboda by Agnieszka Laska. Both dancing companies are based in Oregon.

June 17 & 19: PKS advances to the semifinal of the All Nations Cup in Tukwila

It's getting better and better! Local Team Poland broke to the quarterfinals and then after crushing England 4:1 advanced to the semifinal of the All Nations Cup! This is unprecedented success of the Polish soccer club of Seattle (PKS) in the ANC!  Come to cheer at the semifinal game and, if PKS wins it, at the final game on Sunday:

    Thursday, June 19, 6:30 pm: Semi 1: Poland vs. Bosnia

June 17, 4 pm: Polish Story Time Poczytajki - Cancelled!

This event was cancelled.

This is a meeting of the Polish Story Time Poczytajki for kids - Polish children books and stories are read to kids from kindergarten and early elementary grades. In this meeting: children poems about animals by Brzechwa and Tuwim such as Kaczka Dziwaczka and Slon Trabalski. Organized by Malgorzata Dawiec and Joanna Wroblewska, with the help of the King County Public Libraries.

June 16, 8:45 pm: Euro 2008: Croatia vs. Poland at local pubs, ESPN

It does not look like Poland can advance out of the group B in the Euro 2008 soccer cup. After Poland's 0:2 defeat with Germany and an unlucky 1:1 draw with Austria in the 92nd minute, Croatia dashed Polish hopes by beating Germany 2:1 and securing one of the premium spots. The last game against Croatia is likely just for show.

June 14 & 15: PKS in the second round of the All Nations Cup in Tukwila

Come to root for the local Team Poland that advanced to the second round of the All Nations Cup! While Poland had a bad luck at Euro2008, the Polish soccer club of Seattle (PKS) had a clean winning streak dispatching Spain 3:0, Australia 2:1 and Peru 1:0 in qualifiers.  Come to cheer at the second round games:

    Saturday, June 14, 8:15 pm: Poland vs. Mexico
    Sunday,   June 15, 1 pm: Poland vs. Colombia

June 14, 8:30 pm: Vivat Amore! - sing-along concert in Tacoma

Vivat Musica

Vivat Amore! is a new Biesiada program presented by the Polish Choir Vivat Musica. If you missed this great event in Seattle last month, this is your chance to listen and to sing merrily along. No wining or dining in Tacoma though! In Polish with some songs in English.

June 8, 11:45 am: Euro 2008: Poland vs. Germany at George & Dragon, ESPN

Polish soccer club of Seattle, PKS, invites all the fans to watch the game together at George & Dragon Pub in Seattle. This is as hard a start as it gets as the Polish national squad faces Germany in their first game of the qualifying round in the Group B of the soccer Euro 2008 tournament held in Austria and Switzerland. The tournament is also covered by the ESPN channel. T

June 7 & 8: PKS plays in the All Nations Cup in Tukwila

The Polish soccer club of Seattle will be playing as Team Poland in the All Nations Cup. There 43 teams participating this year. Come to cheer the team during following matches of the first round

June 7& 8: Parish Festival at the Polish Church in Seattle

St. Margaret of Scotland

The Parish of St. Margaret in Seattle invites to the Parish Festival with main festivities on Saturday from noon to 7 pm. There will be booths with different merchandise, great Polish food and also a raffle.

June 6, 8 pm: International Dance at the South Lake Union Club in Seattle

This is the 30th International Dance staged by local clubs representing several Central & East European nations. Ethnic food by Polish Ladies Auxiliary, music by Bert Carlson. Doors open at 6:30, dancing starts at 8 pm. Soft drinks available all evening. Sponsored by the Ukrainian American Club.

June 3, 4 pm: Polish Story Time Poczytajki at the Lake Hills Library in Bellevue

This is the second meeting of the Polish Story Time Poczytajki for kids - Polish children books and stories are read to kids from kindergarten and early elementary grades. In this meeting: reading from book Nasza Mama Czarodziejka, tales and puppets. Organized by Malgorzata Dawiec and Joanna Wroblewska, with the help of the King County Public Libraries.

May 30 & June 1: Movie Time To Die at SIFF

Seattle International Film Festival shows three Polish movies this year. Time to Die / Pora umierac (2007), featuring Danuta Szaflarska, is a story of a feisty 90+ lady fending off mega-rich neighbors and her own son. Directed by Dorota Kedzierzawska.
